Oak leaf clusters are used by the Department of Defense, Army and Air Force to denote additional awards of decorations and unit citations. A bronze oak leaf cluster is used for the second through fifth awards. A silver oak leaf cluster represents 5 bronze clusters. There are exceptions, so
you should see the appropriate service manual. The other services use gold and silver stars for the same purpose.
