Small plastic case with pad for 3 piece medal set (full size medal, lapel pin and service ribbon). Clear plastic cover for the full size medal medallion. There may be light indentations on the pad from a previously mounted medal set.
The type 16 case (small plastic) is used for all decorations Air Medal and below. The larger type 8 plush leatherette
case is used with all military decorations which rank above the Air Medal and does not have a specified titled case.
Service medals and campaign medals are NOT issued in cases, they are issued in small cardboard boxes or manila envelopes.
