vintage mercantile advertising and printed soda paper signage
DIMENSIONS:
21" Height x 13 ½" Width
DESCRIPTION:
There are two slight, minor tears/paper creases on the surface of the heavy card stock board on the top and bottom right corner of the color serigraph, with just minimal, barely noticeable paint/paper loss. The sign was previously glued or affixed to brown paper board to protect it from creasing and folds. It's out of frame and was found in a flat, over-sized cardboard portfolio wrapped in wax paper, protecting it over the years and out of harm from the debilitating effects of light on the bright serigraph printed colors. It's otherwise still in quite good overall vintage condition, with no noticeable stains, corner folds, creases or loss along its edges or rounded corners. The colors remain vivid, saturated and bright. It features terrific
Art Deco, geo-abstract design and stylized, period typography.
This early to mid-20th century piece of

soda advertising comes from
Rochelle, New York State
and would have most likely been a store display meant to accompany a display of
Rochelle Club Pale Dry Ginger Ale
or other soft drink beverage in a store or possibly at a soda shop or pharmacy, where often small dinettes and soda bars were once located. There's no black ink used on the signage and the bright, pure ink serigraph colors are allowed to interact with each other and to literally leap off the bright white paper and designed to clearly grab the attention of passersby or shoppers. It's not completely perfect but it's still very nice. A great color serigraph and wonderful period piece of
