    DESCRIPTION:
    Nice, very rare antique WEDDING PHOTO of African American man.
    Scans show it all. Such early photos are very scarce. Obviously the number taken was small. This one is no newer than 1890.
    This is clearly a wedding photo and this is clearly his wedding day. Fancy suit and high collar, handkerchief in his pocket and FRESH ROSEBUD ON HIS LAPEL GIVES IT AWAY. He also is wearing a GREAT, LARGE RING ON HIS FINGER. Quite unusual.
    Nice sepia photo with period fancy oval matte gives it a great look. Measures 5 1/2" x 9". Some staining to the matte but photo itself is in nice condition. Photo is very clear.
    This came with a collection of several early, antique photos of African American subjects. Probably were in the same antique family album. Some of them were cabinet photos, identified with photographer names, and all from various towns in Mississippi. A couple of them were from photographers located in GREENWOOD, MISSISSIPPI, so I assume this could be from the same photographer and town in Mississippi. Possibly Greenwood, but definitely Mississippi.
    This is
    a great gift for the photo collectors in your family. A great looking photo and a rare early photo. GREAT PRIDE IN HIS FACE ON HIS SPECIAL DAY!!
