The PSGB1 gets its firmness from the hockey puck at its core (yes, an actual hockey puck!), that is then covered with thick wool. This gives the beater the necessary mass to activate all the overtones from a gong or tam-tam of any size. The sculpted hickory handle and leather strap give the user good strength and solid grip.
