George Fox 1870 London STERLING SILVER PIERCED BASKET BOWL handled dish 326g
This is a fabulous Victorian sterling pierced bowl with horse head handles. It has hallmarks for maker GEORGE FOX London silversmith with letter date for 1870. The pedestal base has drapery and bows on front and back. The upper openwork part of bowl has garlands and a shield on each side, no engraving or monograms. The oval bowl is 6" x 5" and entire piece is 9" wide and 4" high, 5" high to tops of handles. Weighs 326.6 grams.
There is a small crimped dented area along bottom edge, the base is not quite level and the piece has an extremely slight wobble because of this. It is barely noticeable when displayed. Not polished or cleaned and there is significant tarnish. Otherwise all very good, handles excellent and body of the bowl with no problems.
