You get 2 devices. Used on the full size medal and the service ribbon. The one knot bronze device is unofficial and is not Government issued.
The Army Good Conduct Medal is awarded on a selective basis to enlisted members of the Army who distinguish themselves by exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity during a specified period of continuous enlisted active service (normally three years in peacetime).
Bronze clasps indicate the second (two knot) through fifth award (five
knots
).
Silver clasps indicate sixth (one
knot
) through tenth award (five
knots
)
Gold clasps indicate eleventh (one
knot
) through the fifteenth award (five
knots
).
