Antique Chinese 43 inch Long 3 Drawer Table Coffer Cabinet.
This unique antique Chinese Elm table has a flush panel top. The edge is mostly flat with a simple detail at the bottom. The front legs and framework all have nicely shaped molded details that nicely frame the recessed drawers. The fronts of each have applied carved framework on top of the flat drawer fronts.
There is a beautiful carved split apron below the drawers that are similar in design to the fancy carved spandrels on the outside of each front leg.The carvings have flowers and leaves mixed in with the design.
The cabinet is mostly finished in a brown lacquer, with some yellow and orange on the drawer fronts. There are also some red and green color accents on the carved apron and spandrels.
This piece is mostly original, including the hardware on the drawers. The hanging pulls go over loops where locks could have been used to safely secure the drawers.There are a couple of small patches seen on the top, possibly to cover up old slots where coins would be dropped into a locked drawer.
This antique Chinese table / cabinet would make an unusual vanity. Even tough it is taller than a normal vanity, the straight legs could easily be trimmed down to reduce the height.
There is typical wear on the cabinet that is consistent with its age.
