An  outstanding American sterling silver bowl and underplate by Whiting with deep acid etched decoration depicting a donkey, frog, owl, dog, fox and other animals with remarkable detail. The bowl has a gold washed interior and there is an ornate monogram on the reverse of the bowl.
Plate diameter 5 1/2";
Bowl diameter 4 1/2".
Height  of bowl 2 3/4".
Weight 16.40 troy oz. Marked with the Whiting logo, sterling, 96 D and Theodore B Starr, the retailer.  Monogrammed. Very good condition.
