Excellent 1916-D Mercury Dime. It is certified ANACS VG 8 in an old holder (from an era when I feel grading was significantly tougher... I feel it looks VG-10). It has beautiful color, really sharp rims, and zero distractions. A truly choice coin. A nicer VG 8 is not likely to come along.
It has a bold, nicely shaped mint mark, with the "hole" in the D very pronounced (often you will find them filled in).
Any light scratches that may have been picked up by the light are on the holder, NOT on the coin.
If you are looking for a '16-D, I STRONGLY suggest you buy a certified one, as there are MANY counterfeits out there. If it is not the most counterfeited American coin, it is up there. I bought a counterfeit once (D added to a Philly coin- that is usually what is done- and in this case the seller didn't even know) and I was fortunate to get my money back. If you buy an uncertified one, have it checked out by a 3rd party grading service or experienced dealer ASAP. That's the best advice I can give concerning this date.
It's the key to the series. Buy a nice one. Don't buy a smudge of a coin you will not truly be happy with and will never look at with satisfaction. You know that feeling...  you've finally gotten a tough date, and already you are thinking you need to get a better one. Here's a '16-D Mercury you can be assured is authentic, which you can proudly own without the slightest bit of buyer's remorse.
